Stingray City Sandbar
Sandbar · 3 to 5 ft · 19.390, -81.295 (approximate) · water 29.1 °C
Waist-deep sandbar inside the reef. Closed by the RCIPS Marine Unit in sustained north or north-east wind, roughly 22 to 25 kt. Also uncomfortable in a stiff easterly chop across the Sound.
Wind reaches this site from the north-west through the east (320° to 80°). Swell reaches it from the north-north-west through the east-north-east (330° to 60°). It is sheltered from the SE, S, SW, W. Shore entries and the sandbar use tighter wave thresholds than boat sites.
🌊Tide: Near low water · high 18:10 · then low 00:45 · 0.3 m range · Near low water: knee to thigh deep on the bar, and the Sound has been draining across it, so visibility is at its murkiest.
Cayman tides are small (about 0.3 m) and rarely decide the day. Times are from a global tide model, roughly ±30 min; the official tables are on the CINWS sun and tides page.
From the North Sound zone point, not the site itself. Wind in knots, heights in metres, Cayman time.
